This spring, guests at Disneys California Adventure will greet their favorite animated characters in a new way as they come alive in the new Pixar Play Parade.
This imaginative and fantastical parade provided a new set of challenges for the artisans at Mia Gyzander Costumes, Inc, who built the majority of the parade costumes.

Without compromising the popular characters, MGC staff had to interpret the designs from sketches and bring them in to the real world of costumes. We were provided with fabrics that had customized surface design utilizing sublimation printing techniques. These materials were not easy to work with and we had to develop patterns that showcased the fabric designs. Vivid colors were a key element in this project.
Ultimately, we achieved our goal by utilizing a variety of techniques, including foam construction. By combining all these elements, we were able to create the dimension necessary to bring these characters to life.

Guests at California Adventure can now meet their favorite Pixar characters live, up close and personal!
