FARM HOUSE
A psychological thriller set in the modern day mid-west opened in movie theaters this October. Starring Steven Weber (Wings, The Shining Mini-Series) and Kelly Hu (X2, The Scorpion King)
Supernatural demons wear costumes that are heavily detailed, dark, and have an eerie feel that complements the genre. The garments are tailored and incorporate embroidered leather, velvet, braid, and period buttons to achieve rich texture. Mia’s inspiration for these designs combines an interesting mix of futuristic and period styles.

Hole in the Wall
This remake of the popular Japanese game show, debuted on Fox, Spring, 2008. A human version of the video game Tetris, players compete in teams dressed in spandex and hard hats. They face down a moving barrier that features ever-changing cutout shapes. Contestants must contort their bodies every which way in order to fit through the wall or else end up being swept into a pool of water.
For this project our shop constructed over 100 silver spandex suits. The resulting outfits are both functional and hilarious. If you haven’t seen this show, take a moment to check out the link. At the very least, it will make you smile!

Duel
A high stakes game show on ABC, hosted by Mike Greenberg (ESPN) combines the classic quiz show formula with the psychology and bluffing of gambling. Contestants must go head to head to win a big-money jackpot.
The project called for the look and feel of a glitzy, high-end casino. We costumed both the host and the chip girls in high end, contemporary clothing.

Six Flags
This past year MGC designed and constructed costumes for The Magical Light Parade also billed as Glow in the Park in three Six Flags parks. These included New Jersey, New England and Mexico City. Each opened to enthusiastic audiences and rave reviews; “The final touches to the parade were added by Mia Gyzander, who designed and constructed more than 100 breath-taking costumes that shimmer with bright colors, reflecting fabrics and glowing lights”.
With the success of live entertainment in these three parks, two more parades will open in 2009. Six Flags, St. Louis, and Six Flags, Dallas will each have a parade to entertain guests in the coming summer season.
Costumes for these parades are built for a variety of performers, including dancers and acrobats. Many of the costume designs incorporate electro-luminescent wire. These delicate lights, combined with shiny, reflective fabrics, illuminate these energetic and festive parades as they make their journeys through the Parks.
